For some reason Adelaide is one-half hour behind Melbourne. There are no consistent DST time zones in Australia, each state votes on the DST time zone they will use. Some states, like Victoria, don’t use DST. To mitigate this problem we were told by the captain to stay on ship time, which was set to Melbourne. This may be the reason the fellow who got off the bus in the center of town missed his train back to the ship and subsequently missed the ship and had to be bused to Perth.
